1000 Islands Poker Run
moves to Kingston, Ontario
August 13 - 15, 2004

Kingston, ON
Kingston,Ontario - home of the 2004 1000 Islands Poker Run

William E. Taylor, President of Power Boating Canada, Poker Runs Inc., and Poker Runs America, has announced that the 2004 1000 Islands Poker Run will be held on the weekend of August 13, - 15, 2004, and officially sanctioned by the APRA (American Poker Runs Association).

PLEASE DO NOT CONFUSE THIS WITH A LOCAL EVENT SLATED FOR GANANOQUE IN AUGUST 2004!

The 1000 Islands Poker Run, owned, created and designed by Power Boating Canada more than 15 years ago, brought this magnificent concept to the islands, and over the years hosted it in Kingston, Brockville, Gananoque, back to Brockville, and for the past several years, Power Boating Canada has kept the event in the town of Gananoque.

For 2004, we have answered the needs and requests of the Poker Runners and the Poker Run Advisory Council for a change in venue.

The original concept was that Power Boating Canada would move the event every second year, rotating it from town to town, allowing each municipality to benefit from the tourism impact.

The 2004 1000 Islands Poker Run will bring you back to the original route, touring the beautiful islands and Boldt Castle as in previous years - Kingston, Brockville, Rockport, Prescott, and back to Kingston.

Mr. Taylor had the following message for the Poker Run participants:

"We feel that it is in the best interests of all of our Poker Runners to be provided with the best available facilities, including accommodation, entertainment, dining, dockage, and fuelling."

"It is vital that the Poker Runs remain independent, permitting organizers to select sites based on the needs of the Poker Run participants."

At this year's event, Power Boating Canada donated $14,000 to the Gananoque Rotary Club and local Poker Run Committee, to benefit the charities and local projects of their choice.

Power Boating Canada and Poker Runs America also donated an additional $5,000 US to the Trillium Camp for Children, part of the "Child SMILE America Poker Run Tour".
