As we prepare
to launch the 2007 spring poker run season, a number
of important landmarks have been achieved, which will
enhance the performance boating experience for all enthusiastic
participants.
At the recent Miami Boat Show, the American Poker Runs
Association (APRA), in conjunction with many of the
leaders of the industry, established a new set of safety
guidelines for the organization of poker runs, and the
operation of individual boats. These safety guidelines,
when applied and adhered to during the coming events,
will assure the safest and most enjoyable experience
possible for all concerned.
In keeping with the APRA's role as one of the leaders
in the industry, the association has announced the formation
of an International Poker Run Division - the IPRA -
which will expand the thrill of performance boating
events to Europe and beyond. Watch for details that
will significantly broaden your poker run horizons,
as we finalize a series of very special events!
As you read this issue, our 2007 Poker Runs America
Tour is swinging into high gear, with the season openers
in Sarasota and Fort Myers Florida, followed by our
spring events in the northeast. Our second annual Connecticut
/ Long Island Mohegan Sun Poker Run promises to be a
spectacular weekend July 27-28, and we have several
new poker runs coming this summer - so stay tuned to
the website for the very latest updates - www.pokerrunsamerica.com

registration and schedule information.
With this issue, we welcome Eric Colby to the Editor's
chair at Poker Runs America Magazine. Eric brings a
wealth of performance boating expertise to this position,
and I am sure that everyone will find the 2007 issues
to be interesting and entertaining reading. Eric will
be taking over many of the editorial tasks in the months
to come, as the magazine continues to grow. I would
like to thank Editorial Director Steve Fennell and V.P.
Special Projects Norm Rosen for steering the course
for the magazine during the past year, since the untimely
passing of our Editor Emeritus Peter Tasler. Well done,
gentlemen.
