| The
spring of 2005 is shaping up to be one of the best seasons
in years for offshore enthusiasts.
While our southern readers have been active since the
season opener in Sarasota at the beginning of April,
there is an extra shot of adrenaline in the air as northern
performance boaters prepare for their first Poker Runs
of the season. The crystal clear waters of Alexandria
Bay beckon for the first of our Poker Runs America 1000
Islands area events on June 24-25, followed by the very
popular Casino High Stakes Invitational in Gatineau,
Quebec on July 1-2 weekend, and a series of exceptional
runs throughout the summer months.
Readers often ask whether their boat would qualify for
a Poker Run event, and what the criteria are to participate.
Our Poker Runs America events, and all of the runs sanctioned
by the APRA (American Poker Run Association) require
that boats be at least 26 feet, and capable of cruising
at speeds in the 65 mph and higher range. All participants
must produce proof of insurance, and adhere to operational
guidelines as described by the Coast Guard and regional
jurisdictions. For all the pertinent information, please
visit our website www.pokerrunsamerica.com and click
on the Poker Run Events menu bar.
Having just completed our premiere season of Performance
Boat Television, I would like to thank our sponsors
and the many viewers who sent in their kind comments.
Our multi-media adventure continues with a new series
of Performance Boat Television shows, now broadcast
to more Americans than ever before thanks to the addition
of cable TV. Join us as we share the thrills of offshore
boating with millions of viewers per week – it’s almost
as much fun as thundering across the waves in your own
dream machine. Looking for listings in your area? Cruise
on down to the website at www.performanceboattv.com
for the latest information. If you don’t receive the
show yet in your area, DVD copies of each episode in
the series are available through our website, and through
the PBTV listing page in this issue.
Great boating!
