Six
years ago, around the same time we were getting ready to
launch Poker Runs America, we were asked to produce an official
offshore race program. Naturally, it was an offer we couldn't
refuse - more so because the event in question was the first
and only Canadian stop on APBA's national race circuit.
The
response from racers, fans and leading members of America's
performance boating industry was phenomenal. Year after
year, we kept at it, working in conjunction with several
APBA-sanctioned race organizations, bit by bit earning our
stripes in an official capacity as the country's leading
guide to who's who in offshore racing. We didn't even mind
when a couple of race promoters literally copied our work;
in fact, we felt flattered.
A
couple of years ago, we decided to add a different twist.
While we still focused exclusively on providing readers
with vital statistics of their favorite race teams and dramatic
full-color photographs of hot boats in action, we transformed
our race program into a full-fledged offshore racing magazine.
This year, we've made Offshore Racing 2002 a special annual
edition of Poker Runs America, adding it to the six action-packed
regular issues already mailed to subscribers all over the
country. What's more, as you'll see on the following pages,
we have expanded our editorial to include both APBA Offshore
and Super Boat International teams - more than 200 of the
country's top offshore competitors, all categorized by class
and number for easy reader reference. And, just to put the
icing on the cake, you'll find a bonus feature focusing
on some of the famous faces that drive and throttle these
magnificent gladiators of the high seas.
Stay
tuned for more exciting developments as Poker Runs America
magazine just keeps on growing...bigger and better.
